Pineapple Express
How do we situate nature in the world?
Proposed for The Magic of Merlin Woods, this pair of photographs follows a pineapple out of place: abandoned on a roadside verge, and back on a supermarket shelf among jars and price tags. Walking in an urban woodland has become a small ritual of encountering nature in the city; these images ask what nature means once it has been grown, shipped, priced and left behind.
The work invites an exploration of the relationship between natural environments and human societies.
